Come As You Are is a phrase with two meanings. First, it means that people who come to First Christian don’t have to worry about whether the clothes they wear are “good enough.” God is much more interested in the inside of a person than the outside. As long as everyone wears enough clothes, it’s fine with us! But the meaning of “Come As You Are” is much deeper than just the outside...it extends to the inside, as well. Some people think that their lives are so messed up they’re just not good enough to attend church. Well, we encourage people to come just as they are...with all their doubts, questions, failures, and sins. God doesn’t require that we “get it all together” before we come to Him, and the reality is that none of us will ever be good enough...that’s why Jesus took our brokenness upon Himself.
